Hi all.
A great forum you have here.
I'm just trying to enter in the ESSB world and would like to start transmitting
That wonderful audio that i 've heard from some guys in frequency
Actually i have a Kenwood TS-870S + Art TPS II Pre amp and the W2IHY
8 Bands equalizer.
I would like to hear your thoughts regarding my equipment which I have
Not setup yet cuz I don't know how to start, that's why I would like to hear
The experienced guys.
Any help will be highly appreciated and let me know if I need to add
Some device , cuz actually I'm transmitting with the 870 alone
Thanks in advance for your help
TBD.

Hello and welcome. My suggestion,if you have not already done so,would look at all the threads(posts)regarding the 870 then decide your course of action whether to go with the W2IHY stuff or full on rack gear, then the fun can begin.I myself use the 870 with the rear input mod done and several pieces of rack gear.

Hi TBD
Welcome to the forum. Well I can say this, You started with the right radio! Now is the time to stop at this point and put a plan together.
One factor is how deep in your pockets can this hobby desire go.
But remember it's just a hobby and you can take all the time you need to build on it. So with that in mind. I'd say start with a great mic. After years of different mics I found the re20 best suited my 870 station . That's just me.
Next would be the preamp, you can use the one you have if your not having rf issues with it but I'm sure you'll upgrade that at some point.
The w2ihy box was never used here so I can't tell you what to expect there, but a lot of them are in use on the air.So it's do able I quess.
I'd say first thing I would do is read John's NU9N website on essb. Your first 5000 questions will be answered there. Mine were and the ones I come up with almost everyday are there too.
I also noticed you've been listening some where, so I'll advise you to stick a mic on the 870 and join in. The audio guys are the most welcoming and helpful hams you'll meet. 73's w5kai
