Howdy Richard,
Welcome to the Forum!!

Unfortunately, we have never had the opportunity to play around with a Icom 718. We did have a Icom 706Mk2G and changed out the TX Filter to a 2.7Kc. It improved the RX and TX considerably since the stock filter was a 2.4kc.
Anyone out there ever played around with a Icom 718?

Really Mike?

Have you killed that many brain cells since I left Houston?

Richard,

I modified my 718 to run the FL-257 all the time. it takes a bit of rewiring, and part pulling, but it will do it... and there is a difference. I use to talk with the Gulf Coast Voodoo Crew with my tiny 100W...
