ICOM IC-7700 Behringer Xenyx 802 Heil PR-40 mic OK or not???

Post by vk3hgx »

Hi every one just new to VOODOO.

Ok Just picked up a Xenyx 802. I use a Heil PR 40 on its own into the 7700.
What is the best way to go about this????
would I set it up like this eg

1 pr 40 mic bal

2 802 bal in

3 802 main line bal out

4 IHY ibox bal in

5 ibox bal out to bal mod ACC 1 ON IC-7700 or ubal to bal mod ?????

How would this sound !!!!!! Do I need some EQ (more gear) $$$$$

Has any one used this setup on a icom radio?????

Thanks Chris :?

Hiya Chris (and apologies for the delay). I'm quite sure there is some excellent audio to be had with the '7700. BUT, this will be dependent on the type of audio you're expecting/wanting. As with most ICOM transceivers, greater sounding audio can be had feeding the Balanced Modulator directly.

Ask yourself what type sound you wish to achieve. If it's [TRUE] VooDoo audio you're wish to attain, the '7700 will not bring you to full tilt. Let us know, you just may be surprised and even entertained to encounter what can be had with your current setup. 8)
