Howdy!!
Welcome to the Forum!
Glad to have you here.

Gentle???
NEVER! MooooHooooHaaaaHaaahahaha!!!!

Unfortunately, We're not at all familier with the IC7400 at all.
Maybe someone else on the Forum has played with one?

Yes if you are going to play Audio, an EQ is essential.
More then likely it is your rig which is not passing the lows.
Check in the Menu settings to see if there is a Low Cut in the TX section or something like that.
As we said earlier, we're not familiar with that rig.

Hey Barry,
Check in the Menu settings to see if there is a way to change the TX Carrier Offset of the filters.
This will shift the Bandpass of the Filters to the Low frequency side or the High frequency side.
You might have to look in the Service Manual to see if there is a Service Menu for this, or maybe an actual control inside the rig.

cant find anything on altering the carrier offset in the service manual, not in the service menu...all i can tell is that on the wide setting the transmit bandwidth is 2.8khz,maybe when i get fbq2496 this will improve things a little

We see there is a Tone control for TX on the Bass and one for the Treble on page #88 of the instruction manual.
Were looking for the Carreir Set Point.
Let ya know.

Well after looking at the Service Manual,
it looks like it is Totally regulated by the DSP for TX Bandwidth and does not use any analog filters for this, hince no carrier offset adjustment.
Ohhh well,
