IS THERE ANYWAY TO Make TS-850 REALLY sing without dsp-100 ?

Post by mrnice »

I know the combination of the kenwood ts-850s and ths dsp-100 is a perfect marriage. But hete's the problem the dsp-100 unit is very pricey. If you can find one. You could almost buy another radio ! If i do the power on adjustment i will be talking double side banded. Would adjusting carrier point aid me any? I need some direction on really making the radio sing. I have enough rack gear. Would it really worth the price of finding a dsp-100 ? Please someone tell me there is some adjustments i could make ! Lol :D

Howdy Mr. Nice,

Unfortunately, the carrier offset doesn't have enough adjustment to make a big difference on the wider filters. Even if it did, then it would be set for the wider filters and the narrower filters will have severe low frequency roll off when engaged.

YES! If you want to play eSSB (Extended SSB) with the TS-850, then the DSP-100 is a Must Have.

Good Luck in your search!
