Terriffic Audio
We'll tell you, the best Audio I have ever heard is Donald James, N2VU.
Bar None!
He is the King of VooDoo Audio in my book.
We have never heard anybody come close to sounding better than him.
He has a natural voice though, he does "Voice Overs" and commercials for a living. Not to mention the equipment he uses....DW Fern, Eventide...Etc.!! Unbelievable!!
The closest person to ever come close to sounding as good as him is Greg, W5UDX. Man what We would give to hear Greg at 6Kc!! We just can't get him to do it.
He said, "Dude, If I ever went 6Kc, I could never go back".
Man.....

yea thats so true.. that´s real sound.. did you guys check the demos on his voiceover-website? damn. that guy has a really cool job. that must be fun, playing with all the effect stuff and be "the voice" for these movie trailers and stuff..
si si, one can never go back to i.e. 2,4kc.... i can not hear myself in the monitor, using the 2,7kc setting on the 850.. my trx runs mostly on the "500hz" filter position - 850 owners know what i am talking about
@mike: did you own a yaesu 847 by the way?

Yeasu FT-847
Yes, We sure did Andy.
We traded our TS-870 for it.....big mistake, we know.
But we've always wanted one.
We had modified ours to the extreme.
We modded the Receive to 6KC, flat from 25cps to 5.5Kc.
This was not easy as Yeasu uses allot of SMD construction and use allot of SK op amp filters in the audio.
The Xmit was at 6Kc DSB, the carrier offset could not be set enough to get acceptable opposite side band rejection, so we had to use 3.5Kc INRAD filters for transmit. We also put one in for receive.
All the noisy bandpass filter diodes were changed to low noise Schottky Carrier Diodes which improved the noise floor of the receiver TREMENDOUSLY!
