Hi Guy's
I'm not sure if anyone has tried this but here is a MOD for the FT857 /FT897 and the bandwidth is 3.8khz

This is really an old post, but you dont have to go through all the trouble as listed at that link..

Just call INRAD and get the 3.8 filter on a board for the FT-897. Cost me $147.00 shipped..

How can ya go wrong, a teenie wennie eSSB Rig !

For those who care: Managed to do a couple mods to the 857, mostly already known stuff. Combined with the 3k8 inrad the unit now sounds at least "ok" in tx and "good" in rx :) Using a headset mic now. (Remember, this thing still shall stay a mobile trx)

Are there any others out there to share the 857 experience?

I miss my 850, but the circumstances make big fat audio gear impossible for me in this period. Just no space for rig, rack, antennas.
