New to ESSB

Hi,
my name is Sigi and found this forum by searching the net for better SSB modulation. I own a ICOM IC7000.
I already read the threads about the IC7000 and realize that rig is not that good for ESSB. My goal is not to generate the typical VOODOO Sound.
I am looking for a solution, to make the modulation more pleasant.
I also would and can not spent silly money in this project.

So where to start and what will i need?
Is this Behringer Ultracurve DEQ2496 necessary or can i use the
Behringer Ultracurve DSP 8000 which also provides a parametric EQ, feedback destroyer, realtime analyzer ? This device can be found for cheap money in the bay.

Howdy Sigi,

Welcome to the Forum!!

We have never had the DSP8000 here so the only information to go on is from the web. There is no longer a manual available online so We had to go from reviews.

It looks like it is primarily a 31 band Graphic EQ with shelving filters and only 3 extra Filters that are Parametric in nature. If your only goal is to sound a little better and have some adjust-ability to your sound, then we would say that it would probably be a good starting unit for you.

Realize that you will need a Mic Preamp to drive this unit and then a line level to mic level adapter to run this audio into your Microphone input of the rig. This is discussed many times on this site and a search should give you all the information you need.
