HELLO GENTLEMEN: I HAVE SEEN THE LIGHT AND WANT TO GET ON BOARD WITH VOOOOOODOOOOOOO AUDIOOOOOOOO.. I CURRENTLY OWN A KENWOOD 870 AND A 2000. I WANT TO START WITH MY 870 FIRST. DO YOU HAVE REPUTABLE TECH TO DO THE ACC 131 MOD? ALSO, WHAT RACK EQUIPMENT TO PURCHASE TO GO WITH THE 870. I CURRENTLY HAVE THE HEIL PR 40 THAT I WOULD LIKE TO USE WITH THIS SET-UP. I LOOK FORWARD TO TRANSMIT VOODOO AUDIO FROM MY 7500 ELEVATION IN MAMMOTH LAKES, CA. APPRECIATE YOUR INPUT ON THIS. THANK YOU MARK

Howdy Mammothmark,
Welcome to the Voodoo Forum!
Glad to have you here.

Great on the TS-870, that is a terrific rig for playing Audio. Unfortunately we do not do any mods on the TS-870. You will have to find a tech close to you to do that.

For the Rack system, We would suggest you start out with something fairly simple and then get your feet wet, then you can start adding pieces. The PR-40 will do you a fine job, that is a good choice. You will need a Microphone Preamp, a good inexpensive one like the Behringer MIC2200 will get you going there. You will also need an EQ. About the best buy out there right now is the Behringer DEQ-2496. It is an all in one box that will have a Parametric EQ, and a compressor, noise gate. The learning curve is a little steep but John, NU9N has an excellent website that will talk you thru the entire setup.

We would suggest you browse his sight and absorb as much information as you can.

The last thing you will need will be a Line Level to Mike Level transformer something like the Ibox from W2IHY.

Browse the Forum and you will se how to hook all this stuff up along with some other settings.

Good Luck and Have Fun!!!

I too just purchase a TS870. I can't wait til it arrives. I already have a Behringer. My question is: Will I get good results with the Kenwood MC-85 mic that will be coming with the radio or do I need to save for a Heil?
