I've been off air for about 10 years also. Almost two years ago the radioamateur virus came back stronger and more powerful then ever, with a kind of voodoo accent.
About the new toys, congrats. They will sound great!
From my point of view, I would connect them like this,
Microphone Heil GM4
Preamp ART/PROFFESIONAL
Ch1 Behringer MDX2600 - Noise Gate & small compression 4:1
Behringer EX3200 - Spectral Enhancer
EQ - Buy a DSP1024p or a DEQ2496 (the eq is a must! )
Ch2 Behringer MDX2600 - Powerful compression a ratio about 8:1 or bigger.
Behringer DSP2024p - Effects Processor using a small Plating Effect
DIY "iBox" or the version of W2IHY
Transceiver - Icom IC756
I don't know what can you do with the mixer, you've got the ART/PROFFESIONAL mike preamp and I don't know if you need/got everything else to mix. Also there is a risk of RFI interference in every device you connect.
More info about the settings you can find on this forum or on other websites. I would recommend to take a look also on NU9N page.
Good luck and c ya on teh bands!
