Howdy Jimmy,
Congratulations on your purchase!

Unfortunately, We haven't had an FT-950 here at the LABS to answer your question about feeding it in the back.

It should be just fine feeding the audio thru the front as long as you do it correctly. If you are trying to input Line Level Audio from your rack equipment directly into your Front Microphone Jack on the rig, then you run the risk of distortion and no control. You will need to bring the Line Level Rack Audio down to Mic Level Audio to input it into the Microphone jack. The attenuator controls on the rack equipment just can't do it well enough and you do not have enough control.

Check out John's site at http://www.nu9n.com/tx.html
Scroll down and you will see how to connect your rack to your transmitter. He gives various solutions to the problem.
Take care,
