Question, audio chain

Post by Chuck »

I have the FBQ1502 Ultragraph pro, and then the Ultraflex Pro EX3200, then the DSP2024P, I ordered a mic preamp for the begining of the chain because the "Goldline" doesn't have the highest output until I get the PR-40. I think that is the correct order??? I have been reading all the questions and responses and am trying to get a idea what's going on in the audio chain. The TS-870S will arrive tomorrow!!!!!!

Good Start!

Howdy Chuck,
Sounds like your getting a good start!
You will most definitely need the Mic Preamp, more so with the PR-40 as the output is a little anemic on that Mic.
Another problem they tend to have is with plosives, ie. 'P' Popping.
They need a Pop Filter in front of them.
This is the one that is made for it and is fairly inexpensive, but any will work.

The order you propose to put the rack units in is correct.
The only other thing you are really missing is some kind of Compressor.
You will need this if you plan on trying to boost the Highs on the EQ.
It will keep the Sibilance and Tearing in check on the 'S-ing'.
If you decide to get one, then the placement order for the Compressor would be in-between the Ex3200 and the DSP2024p.
Can't wait to hear ya on your new stuff!

Question, audio chain

Post by Chuck »

Ok guys I ordered a Behringer Multicom Pro-XL MDX1600 (compressor and gate) So that should take care of rack equipment. I've been looking around for a power conditioner for all this stuff. Don't want to buy the farm just something that will ward off the RF??? Anyone have such device for sale?? Thanks for all the help!

Furman M8-D

Post by Voodoo Guru »

Howdy Chuck,
Well what we use here is made by Furman Sound.
http://www.furmansound.com/product.php?div=01&&id=M-8Dx
It filters allot out of the AC before it goes to the Rack Equipment.
Not only that, but it has some real Cool Lights that send some soft illumination down upon your Rack Equipment and Desk in the Dark.
Plus, it has a digital readout of your Line Voltage.
They have some that are even more bare bones, but hey....why not go for the Cool stuff?
