So I've been talking with W5UDX on the air on 10 meters, and he has been helping my tweak the Audio out of my Modified IC-718...

We noticed I had some RF crackle and "muffled" type of sound in my audio...

Today, I ordered me some I.C.E. for the Coax.... Model 303U

Then I was talking with him about my next Rack piece I should purchase...
You Know after the:
MXL V57 Condenser
Behringer VX-2000 Microphone Preamplifier/Voice Processor
Behringer PEQ-2200 Parametric EQ
Alesis Nano-Compressor
Rolls DB25 Match Box
Behringer MX-602A Mixer

...of course he says... Behringer EX3200 Ultrafex Pro

I just scored a brand new one on ebay for $65....

I guess there will be another Voodoo EX-3200 on the air soon....

HAHAHHA.. But I'll tell you what, I'm real tempted to build a tube mic preamp...

like a Altec 1566A...

The Bellari "BLING" stuff is a bit outta my price range fo rme to justify on a 3.3kHz wide Ic-718
LOL

But $75 for the EX3200...
That's doable!

I think you should....it looks fairly simple...if you have the time...and while you are at it...build two...as I would like one to add to my Pre Collection!

Yeah...it is....I've had that unit for several years...and never really used it for much of anything...but it works great for this Voodoo stuff! :D

Hey Scott...

You are of the "recording" type, Correct?

This is the last tube thing I built:

Image

4 gain stage pre-amp, 6V6 power section running with 485VDC on the Plates...

It doesn't do "Clean" at all....

So I guess the real question is...

Where does the Behringer EX3200 Ultrafex Pro go in the pile?

I am currently hooked up in this order:

MXL V57 Condenser
Behringer VX-2000 Microphone Preamplifier/Voice Processor
Ch.1 Behringer MX-602A Mixer

Effects Loop Send Behringer MX-602A Mixer
Behringer PEQ-2200 Parametric EQ
Alesis Nano-Compressor
Effects Loop Return Behringer MX-602A Mixer

Behringer MX-602A Mixer Mains Out
Rolls DB25 Match Box

3.3kHz Voodoo IC-718

Where will the VOODOO EX3200 fit in the stack?

Should I dump using the Effects loop on the Mixer and just go to the Mixer last?
:?:

Wait... It helps to RTFS (Read The FooKING Site)...

According to http://www.wz5q.net/index/rack_data/3200.htm

I should hook it up like This:

XL V57 Condenser
Behringer VX-2000 Microphone Preamplifier/Voice Processor
Ch.1 Behringer MX-602A Mixer

Effects Loop Send Behringer MX-602A Mixer
Behringer PEQ-2200 Parametric EQ
Behringer EX3200 Ultrafex Pro
Alesis Nano-Compressor
Effects Loop Return Behringer MX-602A Mixer

Behringer MX-602A Mixer Mains Out
Rolls DB25 Match Box

3.3kHz Voodoo Modded IC-718

So now, the only Real question is...

Should I dump using the Effects loop on the Mixer and just go to the Mixer last :?:

I bet it doesn't, with the 4 gain pre. It looks simply AWESOME! I would LOVE to try it out in the studio!

I've got a Laney, Tony Iommi Signature Amp, that has 5 gain pre stages, and it rocks...it's Bloody Loud, and has tone that doesn't quit! I call it the 'sound of God'! 8)

Nice!

You have a good (read "cheap") source for transformers for Mic Preamps?

I found a design that looks dead simple and has been getting great reviews for it's ability to cancel power supply noise...

Image

But I will probably run some JAN 6072's that I have...
