Arfter all these years...

Post by Bow »

My IC-718 is still trucking along at a whooping 3.3kHz...

I've been playing around with my new toy... I picked up a $10 SDR Dongle from Amazon last week. Tonight, Using the Freeware HDSDR, I was able to try it out for one of the main reasons I bought it, to use it as a receiver/recorder to tweak my Transmit Audio... As I thought, my rack was a bit out of adjustment (After 2 moves and 3 mic changes, and no one to talk with, I wonder why.....) I think I got it doing OK now...

Audio Makes Radio Fun....

By the looks on my graph, my new Mic (MXL BCD-1) is killing my below 40hz...

Might need to go back to a Condenser...

SDR Dongle

Post by JJ2013 »

Hey there!

Got interested in learning how you hooked up everything using the SDR dongle to help visualize audio on transmit/receive?

Sure would appreciate a brief on the set-up.

Cheers,
JJ

I run the cheap SDR Dongle, costs like $10.29 on Amazon.
HDSDR on an old Windows XP Netbook

Don't plug the antenna into the SDR and adjust it until you are not overdriving the snot out of the SDR receiver...

The more I played with it, the more I don't think it is cut out for this. Tuning it in is a PITA and it gives an odd, digital delay in the audio (W5UDX thought it was kinda cool)

right now I'm chasing 2 issues:

1. RFI in my audio I can hear on the SDR recording
2. Something is stealing my bas below 65Hz...
