Hi All
Just wonted to know if anyone has used a Flex1500 SDR radio with there audio gear and what did they think, I'm thinking of getting one but wondered if anyone had an info regarding the SDR radio's?

Thanks for the reply, I got in touch with the Flex tech guys and they e-mailed me back with this answer which might help others if they are thinking of getting a SDR Radio.
The differences in max TX bandwidth of the radios are as follows.
Flex 1500 - 3650 hz per sideband or 7300 hz DSB or AM
Flex 3000 - 4600 hz per sideband or 9200 hz DSB or AM
Flex 5000 - 9999 hz per sideband or 19998 hz DSB or AM
All these are fully adjustable one hz at a time from 0 to full bandwidth.
All the radios are fully adjustable on receive, 0 to 20 khz wide, 10 khz per sideband..

FLEX-3000 Questions
Q1: How is the FLEX-3000 different from the FLEX-5000 transceivers?
A: There are several differences. First is the size of the unit. The FLEX-3000 is a compact software defined radio capable of being easily placed in a laptop computer bag for portable operation. Second is receiver performance. Although the FLEX-3000 out performs all other transceivers in its price class and its capabilities are on par with the FLEX-5000, its overall receiver performance is slightly below that of the FLEX-5000 but greater than the SDR-1000. The third difference is due to its small form factor; it does not have the wide variety and I/O flexibility that is found on the FLEX-5000. The last three points of differentiation are the FLEX-3000 is not a full duplex software defined radio, the maximum transmit bandwidth is 3650 Hz (SSB) and the maximum sampling rate of the high performance A/D and D/A converters is 96 KHz.
AM and DSB is another story
Just a little more info, you do need to run windows 7 or newer to be able to use the newest versions of KE9NS Powersdr software and if you have a DJCONTROL MPE LE or one of the other versions there are loads of updates on his Powersdr.PU2THW wrote:Hi everybody.

I'm now using a Flex 3000 and it's a very good radio for ESSB audio.

There is a reason why Flex SDR's are popular. They yield very good eSSB results, but of course in the proper hands. The SDR-1000 can still sound leaps better than the 1500/3000/5000. I've heard more of Flex's 6k series, but most of the ops I've listened to just widen their TX bandwidth to 9kHz and don't bother with tweaking. Granted, I'm limited to receiving 6kHz on both Kenwoods and 20kHz with SDR Play and these guys sound terrible. Again, in the proper hands Flex SDR can be a powerful vehicle for eSSB.
