Howdy Omari!!
Welcome to the Voodoo Forum!
Well we got some bad news for you,
You will never be able to get ESSB Transmission with a stock MKV.
Reason being is that you will always be limited to 2.7Kc in TX Bandwidth from the IF Filter.
This filter is Always defaulted in Transmission.
There is a Modification manual that has the best filter settings for these rigs.
It was penned by Mike, W5CUL and Jimbo, VE7RF.
It can be downloaded from here:

Maybe you will find your answers there.

Good stock settings
I'm looking for the same thing. Decent stock settings of the carrier offsets. I've read the mod doc many times to get familiar with it but there isn't any mention of good settings before changing out the filters. There must be a way to figure it but it's beyond knowledge. Anyone have any ideas?
Funny thing is before being interested in improved audio I had a TS-870 I sold to get the Field.

Howdy Mike,
We don't know of any stock settings recorded anywhere.
The best way to set them is to listen to your Transmitted Audio with another Flat Receiver and adjust them on the fly.
Try to get the best balance with the audio equipment your running.
Be sure to write down the original settings first though, that way you always have a default to go back to.
Have Fun!

I still say the TS-870....the best OUT OF THE BOX ESSB radio...
Still not sure how the FT-2000 stands up, but I've listened to recordings and the receiver audio quality could NOT quite compared to the '870...and it didn't quite become the "STANDARD"....--hell don't know these guys were smoking at the time.
