My Son, Scotty and Uncle Ted's Dog Eat Dog

Post by SMC Productions »

We've been working on a cover of Uncle Ted's tune, Dog Eat Dog, for a compilation CD. So far, Scotty has done almost all of the playing! I wasn't originally planning on doing this..but he's gotten pretty damn good, and I thought it would be sorta cool!

Tonight we were doing some quick overdubs for the lead part, and while he was doing that, I just did a quick LIVE RAW mix of it...to give you guys an idea of how he's doing. He played ALL the drums, the bass, and almost all of the guitar work.

This is very RAW! No effects yet, NO tightening up the tracks, editing, etc. just raw LIVE mix from the mixing board as he was running through some of the leads. His lead needs some work, he's a bit nervous, and jerky, not fluid enough, but he's getting it...and I'm DAMN PROUD of him. What do you guys think...remember those of you who haven't met him, he's only 15 years old, and I just taught him how to read TAB, like 6 or 8 months ago...he's progressing VERY fast, and he can kick my ass on the drums, especially his footwork...the little SHIT!

Oh...and NONE of these tracks were done with a Shure SM57! :D

WOW Dude!!

Thats Awesome Man!
I can't wait to hear it once you've done your Majik and finished the mix down and Mastered it.
Thats incredible.

My Son started playing the Guitar, He learned to play with TAB too.
Blew My mind when he came over here and played some Zep for Me!!
He didn't get that talent from Me, thats for sure.
At least He doesn't have anything to show me up on like some peoples Sons! HE HE HE

I'm Proud for ya Dude!!!

Here's the latest 'test' mix...still some solo stuff to do, and of course vocals!

Remember all the instruments are 100% being playing by Scotty (he's 15), and only been playing less than a year. PLUS, no 'ProTools Bullshit' has been done, NO looping, NO sampling...everything analog, being played by him!

I still have a bit of tightening up to do, and of course it needs vocals..

We are doing two tunes for this 70's compilation CD, and the 2nd tune is Sabbath's Into The Void!

Again, Scotty played 100% of the instruments, and there is no looping, no sampling, etc. He did it all!

Rough Mix without vocals

Yeah...I told him we NEED to clip off two of his fingertips...then he'd be THE MAN!
