Very positive reviews, best thing is to replace the tube (surprise ), and I believe the E88CC can be used, I have some of those lying around, so nice coincidence. (Edit: Googled some more and the CCa tubes can be used as well: also a few in stock here, they should give even better result)
The Neumann U47 or TSM Muneo microphones are a "bit" out of my price range, (understatment, HI), but this could be a reasonable substitute. If you have better suggestions please tell.

Googled some more, many audio fora (Gearslutz etc) give it a thumbs up and state that this one is better than the Rode NTK and just a little more expensive. http://www.rodemic.com/mics/k2
Placed the order, will leave some feedback after the tube switch has been made and the mike is hooked up on the audio gear into the modified TS-870.

Had some difficulty ordering the microphone. Ordered it new at a web shop. When it arrived it was clear that it was "repacked" and than sent to me.
I returned it to the shop, when I pay new prices I expect new/unused products. Got a refund and didn't have to pay shipping costs for the return goods.
Googled some more and learned that Graig/N7CAL uses the Studio Projects T3, he improved it by swapping the capsule element for a RK-47. Saw in a review: "An HT supply of 200 Volts DC is used, so this isn't one of those mics that use a 'marketing' tube run at solid-state voltages." So the tube receives the right voltage on the anode. The same way/voltage the Bellari gear/tubes work. So I ordered the Studio Projects T3 and busy trying to get the RK-47 part from microphone-parts.com. Will keep you posted, but different microphone so new topic I presume. http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/feb03/a ... jectt3.asp
