Thats Terriffc!!!
Dude!! Thats great!! There is no other Rig that come come close to the Audio Performance "Out of the Box" than the Kenwood TS-870s. That is a Fact. We used to use one before we started using the TS-850s. We had them side by side doing comparisons for 2 months before we decided to trade it off..........

Bad News
Well...got some bad news. Looks like we are givin up the big acreage and movin to the Riverhouse for good. No more room for the Huge loops anymore. That will be a shame. We have grown very accustomed to this loop on all bands. It will be missed. We will be replacing it with the following: 10 thru 20...

P P P P P P P POP Filter!
The POP Filter is a definite "Must Have". We use them on EVERY Mic We operate with, even the RE-20. The RE-20 has a hell of allot of pop filtering built in. It is probably the most "POP" resistant Microphone on the market, but it still benefits from using an external pop filter. Using one also helps...

The Commands are the Best, then there are the rest...
The "RCA Command Series 5751 Black Plates" are by far the Best sounding Tube for VooDoo Audio. They have the Richest, Low End Harmonics that you will find in any other tube. There are a few that are real close. The closest to the RCA Commands are the "GE 5 Star Triple Mica Grey Plates". W5UDX has co...

T-1954 Tubeage
Hmmmm...... Well, we had a Padnah that changed the 12AX7's to RCA Command 5751's in his Behringer T-1953 Tube Preamp. To our surprise, there WAS a pleasing difference in the Tone. Why were we surprised? Because the Behringer Units don't use a very high plate voltage on there tubes. Think it is aroun...

8th Street Music has 'em.
We think you would be happier with the EX3200 anyway. and definitely happier with the RP-533. We actually run all three of them. The EX3200 adds the Sub-Harmonics. The RP-562 is a crotchety, finicky bastard that is difficult to tweak. But when you get the combination down, it is awesome. 8th Street ...

Communications Quality Audio...
We usually tell them "You have great Communications Quality Audio." We then make a recording and play it back for them to hear. That usually removes all doubt. We've spent countless hours Transmitting into a Dummy Load and Listening to that Transmitted Audio on a Separate Receiver. Also making recor...

Ohhh Yea....We hear that everyday. We have thought allot about this. We have also been asking allot of questions to the people that say these things. We think that the biggest problem is WHAT the other station is listening to you on. They might be listening to you on the 3" speaker in the rig, or on...

Yeah, being off frequency can be relative. But playing the "Audio Game" being off frequency, even by a single cycle, is noticable Exactomundo.... Both statements are absolutely true. This is a pet peeve of ours. We can hear if You are 1 cps off. Especially if you are running audio gear. When we sai...

Off Freq??
We sent ya an Email JD for some tests to do.
That is the Correct Mod. We've done a million of 'em.
Chances are you didn't do anything wrong.
Either you were "Off Freq." to begin with, or the other guy was.
Being "On Frequency" is a relative thing anyway.

The Haunting Resonance of Tubeage
There is nothing...and we mean absolutely nothing... that can compare to the Resonant, Harmonic Rich Sounds that come from using Tube Equipment. Not just any Tube Equipment, but the equipment that uses High Plate Voltages on the Tubes (Ssssshhhh, thats a secret....). By High Plate Voltages, We mean ...

Old School....
Ha Ha Ha!! Yea, its "Cycles Per Second". We learned the old way and have a real problem with what they changed it to. It just doesn't sound right to say "Hertz". Funny, seams everyone still says "Killocycles" or "Kc", instead of "KiloHertz" or "KHz", but they then say "Hertz" or "Hz" instead of "Cps...

Sure SM7B
Be careful on which Microphone you ultimately choose. Look at the Mics Frequency Response Graphs, especially on the Low End. When you are going to use the Mic for VooDoo Audio rich with Subharmonics, You have to supply the equipment with the natural Low Frequencies to work with. The Sure SM7B is a g...

Monster Condenser Background Noise...
Well JD, We have never played with that Mic here, so we can't give ya too much advice on that particular model. Nady makes terrific Microphones. The SCM 1000 model has some great features. Large 1.1" Gold Sputtered Diaphragm, Excellent Frequency Response, and it looks great. We're sure it would perf...

Antenna's that get that VOODOO Audio thru the Ether!
Well Ya'll, If your gunna run Full Range Audio, You got to have the Signal for it. It takes about a consistant 20db over S-9 signal to get all the Audio information into the Receiver without any ill-effects. This takes a good amplifier with lots of headroom, and a good antenna. We use several antenn...

Human Nature
It is so hard to go against Human Nature. What Human Nature, You ask? The Human Nature to Resist any Change. The Amateur Radio Community has operated with narrow SSB audio bandwidths from 1.8Kc - 2.9Kc for so long that it thinks that this is the LAW. They are used to hearing a very subdued and rolle...

That must be it. They must be Scared. Ever since the "Big Controversy" between the Pinnheads and the Audio Dudes, there have been less and less Full Range Audio heard on the Ham Bands. Especially Rich Audio, full of Low End Harmonics. OOOOOHHH...AAAHHHHHHH!! It seems that this type of Audio ...
