Tubes in pre-amp....?
Hi y'all Audio Heads and Audio Gurus! Been playing audio for many months now and am contemplating upgrading from a Behringer mic preamp MIC2200 to something better! Now, I keep reading a lot about gear with tubes in it making a big difference, Bellari, comes to mind but I don't want to shell out tha...

Condenser microphones
Howdy VooDoo Guru :D Appreciate your comments and you're absolutely right about a lot of the resultant audio having to do with one's voice characteristics. The audio reports I am getting now, often unsolicited, are pretty good but I am trying to "perfect" it.....want even higher definition articulat...

Condenser microphones
Hi y'all VooDoo gurus and Audiophiles! I am not seeing a lot of posts about pros & cons of using condenser mics.....Currently using PR-40 and AudioTechnica ATM250 dynamic microphones with my TS870S. PR-40/Behringer audio gear going in through the back ACC2 (cap mod done) and ATM250/8 band EQ/EQ Plus...

Condenser mic and TS870S
Hi Mike, I sure appreciate the message but I am not exactly sure what you meant by "removing" screens.....? Got 4 pieces of Behringer gear in the audio rack, have a pop filter and all that as well. Now, is a condenser mic more susceptible to RF and more prone to RFI? 73 de JJ NI2M P.S. Would be grea...

TS870S and condenser mics
Hi y'all! I am getting GREAT unsolicited reports on my audio when using the dynamic PR-40 mic (feeding audio in through ACC2/cap mod done) and Behringer audio gear. Contemplating trying a condenser mic to compare ;-) Would appreciate feedback on anyone's experience when using condensers with Kenwood...

Solid-sate vs. tube amp and RFI in audio chains!?
Hi y'all, I am considering getting an amp and wondered whether anyone of you has noticed any difference between a "no-tune" and tube amp and if using one type over the other increases the "susceptibility" to increased pick-up of RFI by outboard audio processing gear? Also, I will not be putting out ...

MENU ITEMS (TS870S) and ACC2
Hi y'all AudioPhiles a VooDoo Gurus! Could someone enlighten me on MENU items (below) of the Kenwood TS870S and impact that they may/may not have on the audio if I am feeding audio through the ACC2 on the back? MENU item # 22 (MIC AGC) MENU # 30 (band-shift)? Mine is set to 0 MENU #29 TX Bandwidth (...

TS870s and Talk Power
Hi, Sure appreciate your feedback and I have tweaked by EQ settings not to have too significant boosts or cuts and I am cutting more than I am boosting. Also, I made changes to my processors settings which seemed to help. Current PEQ (Behringer 1124P DSP) settings are: Frequency Frequency "Fine" set...

Lacking audio (TS870S)
Howdy VooDoo Guru! Great to see your response as always and I am perhaps starting to "get it" finally ;-) Amp: I've never owned one but perhaps I need to think about getting one.....although (HOA community, need I say more...... ) a good antenna and location is the most important to begin with...

Lacking audio (TS870S + Behringer)
Hi y'all VooDoo gurus and Audiophiles! It's been a while since I played with the settings of my audio-chain last and a QSO I made today with a more distant station made me really think! Below, see two separate audio chains that I used if the test: #1 Chain (I use this for eSSB) Heil PR40 (dynamic mi...

Flat proofing the TX
Hi, I would want to determine how flat the transmitter of my TS870S is and to that end a friend of mine has promised to lend me a Tektronix arbitrary waveform generator. That way I can generate different audio tones that are consistent and identical in their amplitude and I am considering feeding th...

Kenwood K(DS-P100)?!
Hi y'all AudioHeads an VooDoo Gurus! I understand that in order for the TS850S to really live up to its capacity of producing some really sweet audio the Kenwood DSP100 is needed. Now, I just ran across a Kenwood KDS-P100 which is a brand new product and is not at all the same as the DSP100. Slick p...

Mic splitter and audio racks
Hi y'all, Based on talks with different parties it would seem that the difficulties I experienced when using a two-way mic splitter stem from the fact that only one of the mic outputs is an isolated output. Both of them need to be of the isolated type. Will do some testing to see if this is the case...

Using a mic splitter causing all kinds of issues!
Hi y'all Audioheads and VooDoo Gurus! This one's got me stumped (again). NOTE, the audio sounds nice when I use the EQs by W2IHY on the IC756 Pro III when I don't have the two-way mic splitter in the chain (I've put the splitter immediately after the mic). Also, the ICOM rig takes a condenser mic us...

TS950S versus TS950SDX
Hi ya'll Audioheads and VooDoo Gurus,
Can someone give me the broad strokes on "significant" VooDoo audio differences between a Kenwood TS950S and TS950SDX?
Sure will appreciate feedback!

"XLR switch"
Hi again, I guess I am making a mountain out of a mole-hill, but I guess it won't matter if audio from my mic is "split" into two separate audio chains even if I only am using one audio chain at any one time? Wouldn't want the quality nor level of the audio from the mic to worsen due to above......g...

"XLR switch"
Oh....I assume that this works for non condenser mics too as mine a dynamic? One of the output channels needs to completely muted with the other one "active." NOTE, output #1 from the one mic needs to feed into my Behringer audio rack (I use the rack with my TS870S) and output #2 from the mic needs ...

"XLR switch"?
Hi ya'll, Here's a simple question. I don't want to purchase another boom for the mic (or any other stand for that matter) I am using and wondered if an "XLR switch" exists? What I mean is that I would like to use just one mic the output of which I can feed into two separate audio chains. I could pr...
