Ok, since my last post on this thread, I've been assisting and listening to a few operators with the FT-2000. Most of them have highly referenced K6JRF's website--an in depth goldmine of information. Yes, after the Power-On mod process was completed, the FT-2000 exhibited extended low end response t...

Happy to hear of the progress you're making. Looking at those numbers, I can't help but notice the bandwidth of the higher frequencies. It's been common practice to narrow bandwidth as you get higher in frequency. In this case 4kHz. [5kHz is just fine at 1/3 octave as a starting point, BUT it's Fine...

Hiya JJ. The function of Menu #29 and 30 will remain the same. But the "reward" you will gain from feeding the ACC2 input is a smoother sound and higher threshold. Keep in mind, that the C-131 modification is highly recommended when accessing the ACC2 port.

I would be there, but when I listen I hear no activity. This obviously means one of you guys can possibly be listening waiting for a call.

FYI...Texas barrels in like a freight train. The 10M Contest last weekend proved how open the band was--TX, MS, OR, WA, IA, WY, ND, NV, CA, HI, CO, NE.

You can try it and see what occurs--couldn't hurt anything. In some cases "floating" your audio rack might also work. [Lot's guys did this in the past and many still do. I do NOT condone lifting the ground on components, so I don't follow that practice.] Sometimes changing to another breaker/line ca...

The Jupiter did yield good results for eSSB--I had one and enjoyed for a couple months before trading for a 756PRO back in 2002. They were prone to RFI issues and Digital "FUZZ", but this was due to POOR GROUNDING on the internal components. TX 70Hz - 4kHz with a very acceptable wide bandwidth rece...

I will agree that they are stuck in their ways of yester-years. Many many MANY stations have transceivers which are capable nice "comfortable" sounding audio, but choose to operate at narrow on FT-2K/5K/9K, TS-950SDX/990 and even SDR's. It's like having a Lamborghini on the interstate and driving 30...

This was a discussion within a couple groups where it was determined that eSSB audio "robs you of talk POWER". This is true. Many of us are all too familiar with restrictions in communities when directly link to Ham Radio. But your best bet is to still acquire an amplifier, especially if you want to...

There is no question the 850/100 combination will outshine the IC-775 in BOTH TX and RX. And the 850/100 will cost less. Heck, even a 870 will be a better choice IMO. 8)

I've hear about six on the air from "standard" users. Nothing close to eSSB audio, but I figure these users are still becoming familiar with their units. A couple days ago I heard one user say the "TS-990 is a worthy successor to the 950SDX..." The operator also is a user of an SDR 5000. I would rea...

We Are The Makers, The Creators of The Dreams....

eSSB has held a curious crowd captivated, filled with fascination and a bit of intrigue, even holding those who "loathe" at the artform. Despite discovering or inventing faults and spewing ridicule, the innocent interests prevail. Unguided souls searched the airwaves, wanting to be educated on where...
