JJ, don't move to fast. The 870 differences in serial numbers is no different than any other rig. Not a big deal.Even the worse luck of the draw, the 870 will shine over the flex. That's just my opinion and I'm sure I'm right. Next if you thinking of a Yayhoo of that price then I see money isn't the...

hi JJ I don't think your gonna like my reply but here goes. I've owned a lot of 870's not one of them worked well with the pr40 or the w2ihy boxes. The pr40 in my experiences were so bassy even the best eq I could afford wouldn't calm the lows enough to sound good. The pr40 is great plugged into the...

Should we inform others of the mode of operation. ESSB

Since 6k00j3E is definded in the ESSB groups as a mode of operation of 6k transmit and 6k recieve this brings up a question. If some hams are operating 1.8k cw and You break in with a 3k ssb signal and asks hows my audio and then comment on how narrow the cw signals are, I'm pretty sure you'll be in...

Hello Mike,
I've heard you on AM with this unit and it sounds great. I think you've found the right design for the vmsdx. I was blown away at the AM modulation of the vmsdx compared to the heavy irons you were talk'n to. Not to mention it Purty too. Hope your have'n a blast AM'n.

Hi ecc82, I think John has nailed it on the menu setting. Menu 31 depends on the voice and mic. If your gonna run some outboard eq'n or processing. I suggest turning menu 31 off and doing the c131 mod and feed'n the audio in the back. The service menu in the 870 is the reason most 870's went back fo...

triple c firmware 2.02

Hi voodoo'ers Here is what I had to do to upgrade the firmware in the triple c. I used the midiox software for the port route'n and used the midiman sport box for the transfer. The midiman sport used was the old ugly green one,it only shows windows 2000, 98se, and ME but it worked with windows 7. 32...

Hi Trapper, Don't go to fast, the Rode nt1 is a condenser mic that will require phantom power from a mic pre amp. That's a few more bucks too. First off read the 870 op manual and nu9n's essb website (yes) every word TWICE or more and always everything you can find here. Then you'll have a good idea...

First off congrads on the 870,you'll love it. I didn't see which Behringer pieces you had but A Heil is not what I'd save up for,That's just me. I ran the 870's for many years and the mic of choice in a dynamic would be the Electro voice re20. The pr40 had a bassy woffy sound that my best eq could n...
